Turkey’s most special campus for the disabled has started its operations in Seferihisar.

Seferihisar municipality, Seferihisar Association of Life without Disabilities and Environment and Private Can Arkadaş Special Education and Rehabilitation Center collaborated in the foundation of “The Educational and Social Life Campus for the Disabled”. Private Can Arkadaş Special Education and Rehabilitation Center signed a protocol with Seferihisar’s sister city Hamm of Germany for the integration of the disabled to the society.

The opening ceremony of the facility has been made on December 3rd 2018 on World Disability Day. District Governor İlhan Abay, Garrison Commander Levent Aksoy, Mayor Tunç Soyer, Hamm Metropolitan Municipality Representative Rainer Berges and Germany’s Council General of Izmir, Dr. Rainer Lassig were present at the ceremony.

We Are Proud

Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer stated that the new campus was a symbol for the change in apprehension of disability matters. Mayor Soyer: “Isolating the disabled people from society has been a policy of the past, the developed societies nowadays adopt the policy of improving the vocational proficiencies of the disabled and integrating them to the social life. We all supposed to adopt the same policy. Our new facility has vocational workshops, a kitchen workshop and a sports unit to develop better conditions for the disabled individuals. “

“The Educational and Social Life Campus for the Disabled” in Seferihisar has 21 classrooms and 4 workshops including crafts, kitchen, art, music and a sports hall.

The Protocol with Hamm Municipality

Private Can Arkadaş Special Education and Rehabilitation Center signed a protocol with Hamm of Germany for the integration of the disabled to the society. According to the protocol, the disabled people both in Seferihisar and Hamm will be provided opportunities to collaborate and create joint projects.
