The 14th Coordination Meeting of Cittaslow Turkey network was made in Gerze, the outstanding district of Sinop.
The mayors of the member towns described the events and projects related to the Cittaslow philosophy established in their towns since the last coordination meeting. The subjects covered during the meeting included the cycling roads, the chess tournament, 2nd Cittaslow Children Workshop, Cittaslow Turkey Football Tournament and 2nd Cittaslow Turkey Festival. The North Cyprus Turkish Republic network also participated in the meeting.
For sustainability of the Cittaslow philosophy and development model in Turkey, it was decided to establish a Cittaslow Foundation. The members of the Cittaslow network will be the default members of the foundation. It was decided to suspend the memberships of three towns, Perşembe, Taraklı and Yalvaç. The members also agreed on revaluating the memberships of Gökçeada, Yenipazar and Akyaka.
The Cittaslow Turkey network has 15 members. New applications are pending. Cittaslow General Coordinator and Cittaslow International Deputy President Tunç Soyer will join the Cittaslow International Committee Meeting on September 22th in Torino, Italy and deliver the application dossier of two new towns.
