The people of Seferihisar greeted the guests from Samos with flowers. It was an unforgettable night for both the people. Seferihisar Mayor Tunc Soyer said: “We are truly happy to host 450 people from Samos” and Argiro Papoulya, The Consul General of Greece in Izmir commented that the new ferries operating will be mostly favourable for both countries.
The new ferry excursions are regulated by Seferihisar Municipality, Tursem Turizm, Teos Marina and the businessmen of Samos. The ferries between Karlovassi and Seferihisar carried mostly the Turkish tourists during the Ramadan and brought back the Greek tourists from Samos. The group arriving from Samos included Samos Governor Nikolas Katrakazos. The ferry carrying “Sister Karlovassi is Here” beside Greek and Turkish flags docked to Teos Marina with a group of 450 tourists. The group greeted with flowers, music performed by the Municipal Band, shopped in the Citadel of Sigacik and walked around the bazaar.
Seferihisar, the fastest regulated border gate of Turkey
Seferihisar Mayor Tunc Soyer stated that they made great effort for six years to make the entry point operational. Mayor Soyer said that the closest border entry to Greek islands from Izmir’s 4 million population is Seferihisar. I think that both the Greek islands and Izmir will benefit from this new route.
We are glad about the rising tourism
The Consul General of Greece in Izmir, Argiro Papoulya said : “We appreciate the mutual efforts of both people, the open communication on these matters and the rising tourism. We are also glad for the rising trade connections between the people. The Consulate issued 7.000 visas only in June. We are working on projects to make tourists extend their holidays in Greece and encouraging Greek people to have long vacations in Turkey.”
Samos Governor Nikolas Katrakazos said that they cherish the fellowship between Greek and Turkish people. He added : “The opening of Seferihisar and Karlovassi ports will strengthen the brotherhood of the people, and they aim to facilitate more collaboration between the two countries.
