MAYOR

Tunç Soyer was born in the year of 1959. From his childhood, Tunç Soyer is living in Izmir. After graduating from the Bornova Anadolu Highschool, he finished his college education at Ankara University Law School with an excellent degree. Tunç Soyer did his master’s degree on ‘International Relations’ at the Webster University, Switzerland  and he did his second master’s degree on ‘European Union’ at the University of Dokuz Eylül, Izmir.
During his college years, he worked as an actor and an assistant director at Ankara Art Theater (Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu) he also worked as a correspondent at Turkey News Agency (Türkiye Haber Ajansı)
In the same years Tunç Soyer translated the book of  ‘We Shall Return: Women of Palestine’  ,which is about Palestinian women in refugee camps, by Ingela Bendt and James Downing into Turkish.

After completing his education, Tunç Soyer started to work in the tourism sector. For five years, Tunç Soyer participated in tourism sector and he was a general manager at the outstanding facilities of the sector. In 1991, with his company he established a holiday village in Seferihisar and also administered this place during nine years.

During seven years he was a board membership at the Bornova Anadolu Highschool Education Foundation and then he conducted his presidency duty. In the year of 2003 he offered his paper about the financial resources ,that can be procure from the European Union to Izmir, to the former Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Piriştina and with accepting Ahmet Piriştina’s offer Tunç Soyer began to work as a the Metropolitan Mayor’s adviser.
Between the years of 2004-2006 Tunç Soyer carried out his duty as a general directorate of external relations and as an assistant secretary general. In the year of 2006, Tunç Soyer was assigned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the EXPO 2015  Izmir Steering Group and Executive Committee of the General Secretariat.

In 2009, Tunç Soyer was elected from the Republican People’s Party as Mayor of Seferihisar.
In the early years of his Mayoralty, Tunç Soyer brought the international local development system Cittaslow (Slow City) to Turkey.
In 2013, he was appointed to General Vice President of Cittaslow Union which its corporate office is located in Italy.

On May 30, 2014 Tunç Soyer has been elected as Mayor of Seferihisar from the Republic People’s Party for the second time.

In May 2014, He was entrusted with the Board of Directors of Social Democrat Association of Municipalities.

Tunç Soyer who is married with two daughters, knows excellent command of English and French.
