The Association of Social Democratic Municipalities (SODEM) members gathered in Edirne with the attendance of Mr. Seyit Torun, CHP Vice-President for Local Governments.
The gathering named Akademi SODEM took place on Tuesday 29 November hosted by Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan and with the association of Freidrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).
SODEM President and Seferihisar Mayor Tunc Soyer stated the importance of Akademi SODEM during his opening speech:
We the Mayors are very much inspired by the associate lecturers of Akademi SODEM. It is inspired and empowered by listening to them. Together with them we would like to work on projects to have CHP come to power. I would like to thank CHP Vice-President Mr.Seyit Torun for his support today, FES, for their collaboration and Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan for his hospitality.
Vice-President Seyit Torun stated his appreciation to SODEM and Akademi SODEM, which started upon the presentation of Prof. Dr. Korel Goymen of Sabanci University on “The local reflections of global trends”. The following presentations were “City, Rural and Coastal” by Faruk Göksu, “The Current State of the Media” by Şükrü Kücüksahin, “SODEM’s International Collaborations” by Onur Eryüce and “New Methods on Data Based Governance” by Bekir Agirdir.
