Cittaslow (Slow City) International President Stefano Pisani and Secretary General Pier Giorgio Olivetti visited Seferihisar for the Turkey – North Cyprus Turkish Republic (KKTC) coordination meeting on Tuesday, April 10th. As a result, it was decided that Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer should also act as the Coordinator of KKTC.
The meeting was hosted by Seferihisar and the attendants were as follows: Cittaslow President Stefano Pisani, Secretary General Pier Giorgio Oliveti, Cittaslow Turkey Coordinator Tunç Soyer, Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, Mehmetçik Mayor Cemil Sarıçizmeli, Yeniboğaziçi Mayor Katip Demir. The members talked about how to develop the Cittaslow philosophy and the projects on tourism and agriculture. The negotiations were made on local government’s future contributions to city planning and social inclusion.
Cittaslow President Pisani denoted that North Cyprus network should be strengthened, until then Turkey Coordinator Tunç Soyer was assigned as KKTC Coordinator. Mr. Soyer would act both as Turkey and KKTC Coordinator of the Cittaslow network.
