Most Fragrant Festival

The lavenders planted in 2015 in Seferihisar’s Turgut village are ready to be harvested. Seferihisar Municipality is preparing a fancy ceremony for to celebrate the first harvest.

Lavender known for it’s special fragrance, proven to have positive effects on health. Lavender is generally planted in Mediterannean region, but the soil and climate conditions of the Aegean Turkey is also suitable for the plant. 4 acres of land in Turgut village reserved for lavender cultivation.

One year passed since the plantation and the harvest will be celebrated on June 18th 2016 at 18:00 in Turgut Village. The festival will also serve as a means to promote the lavender as an alternative product to traditional products like tangerines, olives and grapes.

The festival starting with the harvest, will continue with introductions for soap and lavender oil making. The photographers from distinguished photography clubs in Izmir will take shots of the festival. The street artists will perform classical music. The guests will be served lavender tea and trays for the farmers market will be placed around the festival area.

Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer invited the people of Izmir to Turgut village on Saturday.
