The tourism professionals at world’s 5th biggest tourism fair EMITT, were given a presentation on Seferihisar at a session called "The Cities Branded by Their Originality”.
21st EMITT International East Mediterannean Tourism and Travel Fair is continuing in Istanbul TUYAP Fair and Congress Center. Seferihisar Municipality has a place reserved at the IZKA kiosk (Izmir Development Agency), where Seferihisar Mayor Tunc Soyer had the opportunity to make a presentation on "The Cities Branded by Their Originality”.
The session moderated by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Birkan, Atilim University Tourism and Hospitality Management Head and the other speakers were Gaziantep Mayor Fatma Sahin, Beypazari Mayor Tuncer Kaplan and Mengen Mayor Turhan Bulut.
Mayor Tunc Soyer’s speech was about the development of Cittaslow movement and the projects initiated in Seferihisar, Turkey’s first Cittaslow city and Cittaslow capital. Mr. Soyer reflected his thoughts about the slow city potential in Turkey and their practices to increase the number of Turkey’s slow cities to eleven since 2009. He also revealed the good news from the Cittaslow headquarters in Italy that 3 more cities in Turkey were approved as slow cities and the announcement would be made in following week at the Cittaslow Turkey meeting in Savsat.
GREAT INTEREST OF VISITORS
The IZKA kiosk, where Seferihisar stand is located draws great visitor attention. The municipal officers treated visitors with dried tangerines, they also provide information about the thermal drying process of the fruit and the ongoing endeavours to expand the coverage of the thermal drying facility.
