Dear Seferihisar Residents,
We are all concerned about the news about the Afrin operation run by Turkish Military Forces for 35 days. We are aware of the importance of defending our country’s borders and the fight against terror and always support our fellow soldiers.
Unfortunately during such extended operation, news of losses sadden our hearts every day. Our soldiers fell martyrs or are wounded. Under such circumstances, as Seferihisar Municipality we needed to reconsider some of the municipal decisions we already made.
Seferihisar Municipality organizes cultural events 12 months a year, so that the citizens won’t be deprived of social and artistic works. Art is one of the main concepts strengthening our solidarity, increasing the motivation and mood, enriching our personalities. But the news about our fallen soldiers beyond the border, overshadows the joy of art.
Upon negotiations we decided to cancel some concerts on our calendar. Other events like theatre plays, interviews etc. will be made as planned with a new practice. As you know, all the municipal events are for free. From now on, we will accept donations for the families of the martyrs and veterans. There is no strict amount for donations. You will declare the donation receipt as the entrance ticket for the event. The collected amount will be donated to "Turkish Military Forces Mehmetçik Foundation”.
The duration of the donation campaign will depend on the status of the military operation and Seferihisar’s interest.
