The Teos Ekmeksiz natural reserve in Sığacık, Seferihisar has been prohibited to public use due to the unsafe buildings causing danger. Seferihisar municipality managed to demolish the unsafe buildings on the beach and granted public safety.
Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer stated: "There are leading cases of the Council of State regarding the necessity of keeping the beaches and coasts open to public. We also want to open the Ekmeksiz Beach to public in grounds of these leading cases.
As one of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey, Teos Ekmeksiz natural park is under the rule of the Directorate of Natural Parks of Forestry Ministry. This natural beauty has been closed to public use five years ago claiming the risks caused by the unauthorized buildings. Seferihisar Municipality has been in negotiating with the National Parks Directorate for granting permission to demolish the hazardous buildings and managed to tear down the buildings in question.
Mayor Soyer: We would like to open the beach to the public
Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer made statements about the subject. He said that an official request has been made to the Ministry for the opening of the beach to the public. Mayor Soyer: "It is possible to turn the Ekmeksiz natural park into a Blue Flag beach, as we did with 11 beaches in Seferihisar area. The Blue Flag beaches are equipped with mobile WC, shower, sunbeds, umbrella, a life-guard and cleaning service. The Blue Flag beaches are suitable for the use of the handicapped, we provide security and cleaning on global standards, there are no commercial facilities on the beaches and all services are provided for free. Seferihisar as having the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in Turkey, would increase its number of beaches, if the Ministry of Forestry would grant us the permission to use Ekmeksiz natural park.
