The application of Bolu’s Mudurnu district of becoming a Cittaslow (slow city) has been reviewed in situ.
Mudurnu district made an application to Seferihisar, the Cittaslow capital of Turkey. Seferihisar Mayor, Cittaslow Turkey Coordinator and Cittaslow Vice President Tunc Soyer visited Mudurnu for a meeting with Mudurnu District Governor Efecan Sahin, Mudurnu Mayor Mehmet Inegol, municipal officers and tourism professionals.
The board visited the historical, touristic and cultural places of Mudurnu, also tasted the local cuisine.
The latest list of Cittaslows in Turkey are: Seferihisar, Gokceada, Yenipazar, Yalvac, Tarakli, Halfeti, Uzundere, Ula/Akyaka, Vize, Persembe, Savsat, Goynuk, Gerze, Egirdir.
SLOW CITY
Cittaslow literally meaning ‘slow city’ is an international unity of municipalities founded in 1999 in Italy. For a city to be awarded as a slow city, the population must be below 50.000 and the application made to the country capital must return positive reviews. The applicant city must have met certain criteria on environment, infrastructure, social inclusion and urban life quality.
