New Slow Cities of Turkey: Egirdir, Goynuk and Gerze

The Cittaslow Turkey meeting was held in the slow city of Savsat, Artvin between 3-5 February 2017. Twelve slow cities joined the meeting, where three new cities, Egirdir, Goynuk and Gerze , were announced as slow cities.

The attendants of the meeting were Pier Giorgio Oliveti, the Director General of International Cittaslow Unity, Tunc Soyer, Seferihisar Mayor and Cittaslow Deputy President, Vize Mayor Sedat Balki, Gerze Mayor Osman Belovacikli, Egirdir Mayor Omer Sensoy, Goynuk Mayor Kemal Kazan, Uzundere Mayor Halis Ozsoy, KKTC/Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, Sinop Deputy  Baris Karadeniz, Artvin Deputy Israfil Kisla, Science Board Member Prof. Dr. Murat Barkan, Prof. Dr. Ridvan Yurtseven, Av. Ilker Unsever, Turkey Technical Coordinator Bulent Kostem, KKTC Technical Coordinator Hasan Karlitas, KKTC/Yenibogazici Municipality, Seferihisar Municipality, Taraklı Municipality, Halfeti Municipality, Vize Municipality and Persembe Municipality representatives.

The next Cittaslow coordination meeting will be held in September 2017 in Egirdir, Isparta.

The Cittaslow International General Council will be organized on May 12th, 2017 in Goolwa, Australia and the 2019 International General Council will be made in North Cyprus Turkish Republic. The attendants protested against the thermal energy plant planned to be constructed in Cittaslow city Vize.
