Seferihisar Municipality supported the ‘Rise for Climate’ action taken globally on Saturday, 8th September to raise awareness on climate change. The municipal officers together with the citizens led by Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer cleaned all streets of the district. Mayor Soyer mentioned their ultimate dream of meeting all Seferihisar’s energy needs by renewables.
The Rise for Climate global climate action was started simultaneously all over the world to mobilize the local governments in fighting against the climate change. Seferihisar Municipality answered this call with 350turkiye.
The event started on Saturday, 8th September at 08.30 in front of the town hall. The municipal officers divided into 18 teams to clean up Seferihisar streets. Mayor Tunç Soyer also joined the cleaning service along Children Municipality, City Council and the citizens. A similar service was also provided in Seferihisar’s Ürkmez area with three teams.
850 Global Events the Same Day
The volunteers and municipal teams collected garbage for three hours. The garbage weighing approximately two tons in 219 trash bins presented to the public at the district square. A half of this amount was collected in Ürkmez area.
Rise for Climate event organized in 95 countries with over 850 events. There will be Global Climate Summit in California between 12-14 September 2018.
