Seferihisar’s Beyler village has organized a festivity event for the Terra Madre Day celebrated every year on 10th of December by Slow Food members.
Local women of Beyler village, students and Seferihisar Municipality worked in collaboration for preparing traditional food with for the Terra Madre celebration. The unique recipes of local cuisine like Calkama and traditional bread cooked in stone ovens and the guests were offered tarhana soup, oyster mushrooms, armola cheese, hurma olives and olive oil.
Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer attended the celebrations in Beyler village and emphasize the Slow Food philosophy "Good, Fair and Clean”. Soyer said: "Seferihisar, as a member of Cittaslow and Slow Food networks, celebrates the Terra Madre day annually. This special day is a reminder of our connection with nature for millennia. This year’s celebration was in Beyler village. Seferihisar has many delicacies. We had the opportunity to taste and offer them to the guests. We will continue working for preserving this heritage and making it available for future generations. I would like to thank the hard-working locals of Beyler, the students, municipal officers and Slow Food volunteers from the bottom of my heart for today’s accomplishment.”
