Thousands of people from Izmir and around Turkey swarmed to 2nd Ancient Bread and Armola Festival organized by Seferihisar municipality in Ulamış village despite the staggering heat. 4000 loaves of bread produced and cooked in traditional ways were sold out in hours. Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer commented: "A village can change a country. The occurrences in Ulamış will one day change the politics in Turkey.”
2nd Ancient Bread and Armola Festival was made in Seferihisar on Saturday 21st, 2018 in Ulamış village. The festival continued a whole day to introduce the bread produced according to century-old methods and the famous Armola cheese of the district. The local products of Seferihisar, the first Cittaslow in Turkey, were also promoted at the Seferihisar grocery kiosk. The ancient bread is made of rare Topan Karakılçık wheat, whose seeds were discovered during the Seed Swap Festival in Gödence village in 2011. We managed to reproduce the seeds after many tries and grinded in traditional stone mills. The bread made by Topan Karakılçık flour and local cheese Armola was presented to the guests during the festival. The villagers instructed the festival guests at workshops about cooking the bread and the preparation process of Armola cheese in goat skin.
