Cittaslow Turkey Coordinator and Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer said Mudurnu, famous for its chicken industry, will be supported with new finance and project resources.
Mudurnu joined the Cittaslow Turkey network. Mudurnu Mayor Mehmet İnegöl will be delivered the membership certificate at the Cittaslow International Committee meeting on March 17, 2018 in Maaseik, Belgium. Cittaslow International Vice President, Cittaslow Turkey Coordinator and Seferihisar Mayor Tunç Soyer cited that there are 241 Cittaslow cities from 30 countries around the world and Mudurnu will gain a worldwide recognition.
Soyer added: "Mudurnu has been granted this title after Seferihisar, Gökçeada, Akyaka, Perşembe, Taraklı, Vize, Yalvaç, Yenipazar, Halfeti, Uzundere, Şavşat, Gerze, Göynük and Eğirdir. It took the Mudurnu municipal team a year to prepare for the application with the support of Cittaslow Turkey Secretariat. They had to meet at least 50% of the requirements each of the 72 criteria. The file’s overall point is 52%. Mudurnu had always been the chicken production center of Turkey, now they managed to be a slow city. Mudurnu is a versatile city with many natural and historical values, the membership will enable them to proceed for a much-deserved level.
Soyer added that the application process of two districts of Bitlis, Ahlat and Adilcevaz were finalized and were being evaluated.
